About Us

OUR STORY

The last few years have been very difficult for most of us. Civil unrest, shut downs, the pandemic, evictions, political discord, and climate distress have made many people feel lonely, afraid, and helpless. On the other end of the spectrum, people in a position to offer help often struggle to find opportunities to funnel their time and energy in a constructive, meaningful way in their community.

Our goal is to challenge people to recognize the needs in their own community and develop simple ways to meet those needs. The need for help is often urgent, so we want to create a system that connects a Human in need to a established network of Givers, in the hope to provide help as quickly as possible. Most of the Connections or tasks are small in nature and can be completed without much time or effort.

OUR VALUES

Please note we are not the typical charity. We strive to be what is called a “mutual aid” group, and that means we are completely inclusive. The people who we help do not need to “qualify” for our help. We are just neighbors helping neighbors in hopes to make Maple Grove a better place to live for everyone. We have a zero-tolerance policy for any form of racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, ableism, transphobia, or judgement of any special need a person might have, including mental health and addiction issues. All are welcome here!

Want to get more involved? Please reach out and we will get you going. Let’s make Maple Grove a place where everyone is welcome and can thrive!

OUR VISION

We plan to develop the Connections by utilizing as many resources as possible so no one person or group is stretched too thin and those in need do not have to wait for the help. Ultimately, we hope to build relationships and help the residents of Maple Grove feel more connected and less alone in our busy, isolated, plugged in world.
